Toyota Prius…

It may be reminiscent of Fallon’s cake car, but it’s a lovely spot and I like that they’re making the most of Prius for the Toyota brand. For once, I couldn’t find a decent version on YouTube, though - which is a shame… Hopefully, because it’s new rather than people not bothering to post it!
Who looks after Toyota in the US? Lovely work just don’t understand why they aren’t using ‘why not’ as the brand idea rather than ‘moving forward’.
I thought that Saatchi had all the Toyota work in the US, but this one is from Dentsu, so I guess not - schoolboy error to muck around with the brand line, though!
This lacks credibility, given the unrecyclable nature of so many parts and materials that are used to build a Toyota Prius. Also, given the cost to the environment throughout their entire lifespan (R&D through to dismantling) fuel emissions are the smallest danger to the environment. The smartest thing we could all do is to cease new car production immediately, and keep all of the old cars on the road for ever (like in Cuba) … the total cost to the environment willl be significantly smaller than to keep producing new cars with “greener technology”.
I’m with Claude on this. It’s a beautifully made spot, but the message gets me all hot under the collar. It’s really easy to say ‘why not?’ - we’d all like cars (and computers, mobile phones, furniture etc etc) to be fully recyclable - the question is: what is Toyota doing about? Whatever it is, they’re not showing it in this ad - because a hybrid engine has nothing to do with making a car more recyclable - and if they were doing something concrete, surely they would show it? For me, this is advertising at it’s very worse - all style and absolutely no substance.
Nice blog!
