The Death of Brand TV…

I don’t believe in this. At all.
Maybe the channel our TV arrives through will change. Hell, almost for sure.
But TeleVisual stuff won’t be outdone. Barring future technology that pumps directly to your brain!
However, let’s think about the reasons people extol it - because there’s usually some degree of truth in something that everyone’s raving about… [...]

There’s a trend starting at Toyota - to make people look petty & vindictive. And the latest ad really takes it just too far. Methinks.
Personally, it’s not my cup of tea. Here’s why…
First, watch this ad - since it’s the main basis for my comments:

So, you get the idea - the Yaris is so important, [...]

A very dry week or two…

Apologies…

A very good week skiing - helped by some fantastic weather. Pictured above. For real this time.
Meanwhile, came back to the usual overload of work - don’t you wish things didn’t wait for you to return sometimes?
Although, quite often that can be disappointing too!
So, will attempt to now return to the previous trickle of posts [...]

Idealog…

David MacGregor from New Zealand wrote in response to this post on Amplification, saying that he’d dipped his toe in the magazine waters with this magazine Idealog… Which you can see online here.
Meanwhile, he’s sending some hard copies over for us Brits.

Off skiing…

I’ll stick to slightly easier terrain, to be fair, but this is why posting is about to drop below the normal sporadic trickle… If it doesn’t pick up again in 10 days or so, I probably did end up going over some cliff!

Amplification…

Another tip/link from Chungaiz originally - on the 51 best magazines ever.
But the bit I found really interesting was the summary written by Graydon Carter. The Vanity Fair editor. Anyway, he wrote this about the role of magazines…
“The essential strength of a magazine is its ability to amplify. An idea, or an image, or a [...]

A wall of words…

The Daily Telegraph reported on this, and when I read it (in Eat at lunchtime) I thought they were doing this. But, it seems to have something to do with BT’s Openreach company. Never to mind, it’s all good anyway!
They’re trying to build a wall of words. In order to unlock some sponsorship money for [...]

It’s not new…

Adcritic have pointed out the possible inspiration for the latest Apple iPhone ad…
It was a 1995 movie, shot by Christian Marclay, called “Telephones” - there’s a clip posted here on YouTube…

True. And the creatives may well have seen it.
But, is that bad?
Not the freshest topic, but it reminds me again of this issue. That of [...]

I know this is blatant bloke-centric stuff, but when it’s done well it’s still laudable… and this is a long-running idea that continues to deliver unexpected executions that are a joy to watch!
(apologies for the lack of YouTube link - I can’t find it there yet. Sure we will soon - so, I hope this [...]
